Webinar: From Academia to the Danish Labour market + CV workshop for PhD-students and junior researchers
Webinar description
Webinar: From Academia to the Danish labor market – for International PhD’s and junior researchers
Want to pursue a career outside academia? There are many opportunities waiting in the Danish labor market for highly qualified researchers! Attend this free webinar to gain knowledge on how to transition from academia to the Danish labor market and get the important knowledge on how to write a non-academic CV.
International House North Denmark is happy to announce the collaboration with DM for a series of webinars. The main speakers this webinar is Niels Glæsner, who holds a PhD in educational science and works as a Consultant for DM and Silas Longfors Pind, who is a Career Consultant at DM and a CV expert.
The world outside academia
Since 2006, more and more PhD graduates have entered the Danish labor market. At the same time, the labor market has changed to the point where investment in research and development in the private sector now exceeds investment in the public sector. Employers in many different areas of the labor market have opened their eyes to what PhD graduates offer.
At this webinar you will be introduced to some of the many opportunities outside the academic world. As an employee with a PhD degree outside the universities, you can handle a wide range of different jobs. Of course, which positions you are best equipped for depends on your field and your experience as a researcher.
It’s about the skills not the degree
The most important part of job search is the ability to communicate your acquired skills to potential employers. During the many years in academia, you have gained many highly valued skills. To prepare for the labor market outside academia you must give a concrete expression to your skills and it’s a good idea to start early.
A good place to start is with your CV. In Denmark, academic CV’s and non-academic CV’s differs greatly. For this reason, the second part of this webinar will be a ‘workshop’ where TBC will guide you through the do’s and don’ts when it comes to writing a good CV.
After this webinar you will:
- Know what to consider when transitioning from academia to the Danish private or public sector
- Have heard an inspiring case story
- Know what to include in your non-academic CV
