Spouse Space Program Spring 2024


Program description

International House North Denmark welcomes all international spouses and partners to our Spouse Space Spring 2024 program.

Spouse Space's goal is to:

🤝 Create a network of accompanying spouses and partners

💼 Help with job search

🎯 Help spouses/partners integrate into North Denmark

💡 Introduce spouses/partners to networking opportunities and help each other with their daily challenges

Spring 2024 Program Dates - Please make sure you are able to participate in the events before signing up as attendance is required for 5 out of the 6 events.

You will receive more info prior to each event.

March 19th, 9.00-12.30 (15.00): Career Fair in Gigantium

We begin the program at Gigantium in meeting room 1 on 1st. floor. 
You will get an introduction to the Spouse Space program and afterwards you will join the career fair downstairs, where you can meet and network with +45 companies. Before this, we will take you through how to best take advantage of career fairs and how you can best approach the companies - among others, you will hear from a couple of the companies present at the fair, how you can best make yourself stand out.

You also have the option to get a free CV photo taken at the fair, so make sure to make use of this opportunity.

Lunch will be served at the event.

Before the event, it is a good idea to prepare a CV so that you can bring copies with you to the fair. You will also be able to get CV feedback from International House during the day.

April 3rd, 12.30-15.00: Job search workshop with recruitment agency

Become inspired in your job search when Maria Christensen Drejer and Jens Nicolaj Maagaard from Asgaard Recruitment comes by with a presentation on how you can best go about your job search and make yourself stand out. In their presentation, they will touch upon

  • How do companies usually find their new employees.
  • What is a good CV
  • What is a good Linkedin profile in terms of being searchable via keywords
  • Contacting companies / recruiters and tips for this
  • The job interview (1st + 2nd interviews)
  • Tests and cases
  • What to ask a company
  • Usual conditions in a position.

This is also your chance to ask a local recruitment agency, who are in contact with many companies, the questions you have stumbled upon in your job search.

At the event, coffee, tea, and cake will be served.

April 23rd, 10.30-12.30: Workshop - Personal development during your job search.

At this event, you will hear from Vibeke Bak Christensen from Frirum, who will speak about job search and how you during this process can keep in touch with yourself and work on your personal development. Vibeke states:

"During your job search, it is important to not only excel at writing a good CV and a targeted application, but also it is also important to clarify, identify and develop healthy strategies for what has been to where you want to go in terms of self-esteem and peace of mind. By doing this, your competence and career clarification will be much easier"

Vibeke has more than 25 years of experience as a coach, guidance counselor, and therapeut and she has a cand. mag. in English, French and international relations and has lived in multiple places around the world.

At the event, you will get the chance to work on small exercises to work on yourself and your personal development that you can also use in the future.

Lunch will be served at the event.

May 15th, 11.00-12.30: Networking with companies

International House North Denmark is having a company seminar, where we invite companies in the region to a seminar that will cover different aspects of the field of having international employees.

We would like to invite you to this and get a chance to meet some of the companies and practice your networking skills.

The companies will have a stand and you will get a chance to go around and have a chat with them about the opportunities in their company. You will receive information beforehand about which companies are attending so you can prepare prior to the event.

Location: TBA, but in Aalborg 

May 29th: Company visit 

During the Spring course, we will go to visit a company in Aalborg, so you will get to see the company, the workplace and in general get to know more about how they work and the opportunities for future employment with them.

Which company we will visit is to be arranged and you will get more information about this later in the program.

June 19th, 10.00-13.00: NLP workshop  

For the last event, you will hear from Rikke Dorset who is a NLP Practitioner. NLP focuses on strong and effective tools for communications, coaching, mental training, and leadership combined with personal developmement.

It takes a starting point in how people think very differently and it is about developing one's skills to understand one self and other people. 

More specifcally, at this event you will get insights on how to create and maintain joy and motivation in your job search. You will learn more about our subconscious patterns and how you can work with your state of mind to create the optimal foundation for successful networking and job search.

After the event, we will have a lunch to finish of the program. You will receive diplomas for participation in the program (if you have attended at least 5 out of the 6 events), and between all participants who have been present at all 6 events, we will announce a winner to receive a gift.

Please read before registering:

The program consists of 6 events. Attendance is required for 5 out of the events in order to participate. This is due to the program receiving funding and therefore we need to ensure a certain amount of participation hours. Therefore, please make sure you are available on the time of the events before registering.
