June 11th, 10.00-13.00: Presentation and workshop with previous participant.
For the last event in the program, you will hear from Bailey Doolittle, a previous participant of the program.
"After moving to Aalborg from the USA 11 years ago with my American (now ex-)husband (for his job), I started the job search with a lot of frustration about how in the world everyone had time and energy to learn how to optimize and boost their CV and their LinkedIn profiles. This frustration grew when I learned that the majority of people in Denmark get jobs through their network, before the job is ever listed online.
I learned a lot in the 11 years since moving to Denmark, including many (not all) of the intricacies of the visa system, how to meet Danish people and make them hang out with you and even become actual friends with you, and what to do with that online profile stuff everyone keeps saying you need.
I will talk about my journey in Denmark, including the decision to take a Master’s degree, and what happened to me in the job market in Aarhus and Copenhagen before I moved back to Aalborg last year. I will also go through some practical tips I love to share with others, which made a real difference for me in my time in Denmark. After my talk, we will do a little 60-minute strategy workshop. I am lazy, and I think most Danes are as well, but I managed to get 5 jobs by loosely and imperfectly following a strategy that worked for me. We’ll do a quick and dirty one hour session where I help you make an actual plan for how to boost your visibility within your network, without stressing about it or spending too much time on it."
The format of the last event will be presentation, workshop and lastly lunch to end the program.
Location: Rantzausgade 4, 1st floor, 9000 Aalborg
